Ingredients

2 oz Rye Whiskey (or Cognac for a traditional twist)

Step-by-Step Instructions

Chill & Rinse: Chill a rocks glass with ice. Once cold, discard the ice, pour in a splash of absinthe, swirl it around to coat the inside of the glass, and discard the excess.

Mix: In a separate mixing glass, combine the rye whiskey, simple syrup, and bitters.

Stir: Add ice to the mixing glass and stir for 30 seconds until well chilled.

Strain: Strain the mixture into your absinthe-rinsed glass (no ice!).
